Section 20. Purpose

Latest version.
  • This general permit regulation governs the discharge of wastewaters from sites contaminated by petroleum products, chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, the hydrostatic testing of petroleum and natural gas storage tanks and pipelines, and the hydrostatic testing of water storage tanks and pipelines. These wastewaters may be discharged from the following activities: excavation dewatering, conducting aquifer tests to characterize site conditions, pumping contaminated groundwater to remove free product from the ground, discharges resulting from another petroleum product or chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent cleanup activity approved by the board, hydrostatic tests of natural gas and petroleum storage tanks or pipelines, hydrostatic tests of underground and above ground storage tanks, and hydrostatic tests of water storage tanks and pipelines. Discharges not associated with petroleum-contaminated water, water contaminated by chlorinated hydrocarbon solvents, or hydrostatic tests are not covered under this general permit.
