The Board for Professional Soil Scientists, Wetland Professionals, and Geologists is a separate agency within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The director of the department acts as the board's secretary and administrative officer. Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 3. The board is authorized to license and certify individuals to practice or offer to practice as a Virginia licensed professional soil scientist, a Virginia certified professional wetland delineator, or a Virginia certified professional geologist, to establish standards for licensure and certification and professional conduct, and to promulgate regulations for those purposes.
