Section 210. Requirements for the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam

In order to be approved to sit for the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam, applicants shall satisfy one of the subsections (A through F) within this section. Applicants shall:

A. Have graduated from an approved engineering curriculum.

B. Dual degree holders.
1. Have graduated from an ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering curriculum; and
2. Have graduated from a doctorate engineering curriculum that is ABET accredited at the undergraduate level.

C. Have graduated from a nonapproved engineering curriculum of four years or more, a related science curriculum, or an approved engineering technology curriculum.

D. Have graduated from a nonapproved engineering technology curriculum of four years or more.

E. Have obtained, by documented academic coursework, the equivalent of education that meets that requirements of ABET accreditation for the baccalaureate engineering technology curricula. Whether an education is considered to be equivalent shall be determined by the judgment of the board.

F. Have graduated from an engineering, engineering technology, or related science curriculum of four years or more.
