Section 10. Scope

  • This chapter defines certain minimum standards which, if violated with such frequency as to indicate a general business practice, will be deemed to constitute unfair claim settlement practices. This chapter applies to all persons as hereinafter defined and to all insurance policies and insurance contracts except policies of workers' compensation insurance, title insurance, fidelity and surety insurance and contracts or plans for future hospitalization, medical, surgical, dental, optometric or legal services. This chapter is not exclusive, and other acts, not herein specified, may also be deemed to be a violation of the Unfair Trade Practices Act (§ 38.2-500 et seq. of the Code of Virginia).
