Chapter 110. Rules and Regulations for Simplified and Readable Accident and Sicknessinsurance Policies |
Section 20. Effective date and other provisions

This chapter (14VAC5-110-10 et seq.) shall be effective on January 1, 1981.
1. In addition: This chapter (14VAC5-110-10 et seq.) shall be advisory for a period of eighteen months following the effective date. The advisory period shall end on June 30, 1982.
2. All policy forms submitted to the Commission on or after July 1, 1982 must satisfy these readability standards.
3. All individual policy forms filed or approved prior to July 1, 1982 shall not be delivered or issued for delivery in this Commonwealth on or after that date unless they meet the readability standards set by this chapter.
All group policy forms subject to this chapter filed or approved prior to July 1, 1982 shall not be delivered or issued for delivery in this Commonwealth on or after January 1, 1984 unless they meet the readability standards set by this chapter.
If the policy form already meets the readability standards, it does not need to be refiled. The policy form may continue to be lawfully delivered or issued for delivery in this Commonwealth upon the filing with the Commission before July 1, 1982, of: (i) a list of such policy forms identified by form number, date of approval, Flesch reading ease score; and (ii) the Readability Compliance Certification required by 14VAC5-110-60.
